Les Peintres de Royan
A collective of painters from Royan needed one place to bring their studios, exhibitions, competitions, and member profiles together. The hard constraint: members must be able to publish and update content themselves, without touching code.

The brief
A French painters' collective based in Royan (Charente-Maritime) had outgrown their old blog. The structure was solid but the surface had aged, and any change beyond a colour swap required hands-on help. They wanted a site that put the artwork forward and let members publish without friction.
Key decisions
Sanity as the editing surface. The president — and anyone on the committee — can publish a new article (a competition announcement, an outing recap, an exhibition report), add or remove photos in a member's gallery, create a new gallery when a member joins, or update the agenda. All from a clean web dashboard. What stays mine is anything structural: new top-level rubrique, charter changes, new page type.
Two domains, French registrar. .fr primary, .tech backup, both at OVH per client preference. DNS and email handled there too.
Local SEO from day one. Google Business Profile verified, structured data wired, Search Console hooked up before launch. Twenty-eight Profile views in the first month — for a hyper-local arts collective, that's signal, not noise.
Outcome
The site went live on the 13th of April 2026. The Facebook and Instagram launch post read: "L'art de Royan vit désormais en ligne."
Five rubriques — Accueil · Nos photographes · Expositions · Concours · La vie du club — and a growing roster of member galleries, all editable in-house. The collective's announcement reach now lives on a domain they own outright, not on a third-party blog tool.
“Thank you for all the work accomplished. I've browsed through the whole site.”
“Merci pour tout le travail accompli. J'ai survolé l'ensemble du site.”
Key decisions
- 01Sanity Studio as the editing surface so non-technical committee members can manage galleries, expositions and concours without developer involvement.
- 02Domains registered at OVH (.fr + .tech as backup) — client preference for a French registrar.
- 03Google Business Profile activated and verified — local discovery from launch day.
- 04Decap CMS plus GitHub OAuth as a fallback admin route at /admin for technical members.
- 05Mobile-first design that puts the artwork before navigation chrome — the work is the brand.
